Veneers are a very thin layer of porcelain bonded onto the front of a tooth. They can be used to improve the appearance of teeth that have spaces between them, are discoloured or chipped or are misaligned and are usually designed to improve the appearance of the front teeth.

A small amount of preparation of the tooth is usually required following which the veneers are custom made and bonded onto the prepared teeth.

They are a much less destructive treatment than a crown to improve the appearance of the teeth as very little tooth is removed, however, where decay has been present and the tooth is already weakened, a crown may be a better alternative.
